“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).
 
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 5:17).

 The longer I live, the more I fall in love with the Word of God. In terms of the sweetness and the graciousness of the Word — the psalmist said — “I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me. How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments” (Psalms 119:102-106).

The Bible, Word, and precepts of God are sweet and represent guidance. Jesus said “…I am the bread of life” (John 6:35 & 6:48). It is through God’s grace that we have access and the granted liberty to look into His divine principles for successful earthly living. With all of that said, it is imperative to understand that the Bible is not a weapon, but a divine tool.

Notice this reprimand of Jesus to the Pharisees: “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves” (Matthew 23:15). The Pharisees used the law of God as a weapon. They enforced a hard word externally, but refused to apply them internally. Because of how we have been trained, some have learned to use the Bible as a weapon and not a tool for precision healing, sustenance, love, and divine surgery. In terms of Hebrews 4:12, when the surgeon cuts or makes an incision, at the conclusion of the procedure he stitches/closes the wound. When a sword is used as a weapon, wounds are left untreated and can result in death.

As was done in the African Maafa on American soil and other forms of hegemony, the Bible was used as a weapon of hurt. Some today still seek to use the Bible, seeking whom they can cut and slice through processes of debate, contention, embarrassment, and malicious correction. Although the wrath of God is evident in the scriptures, His human creation is not licensed to issue wrath in the name of being biblically correct. The Bible is a tool and not a weapon. Seek to use it to exemplify the love, grace, mercy, exhortation, and life-saving correction. That does not make the Bible powerless.

Paul said “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine” (2 Timothy 4:1-2). He also said “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The Bible is clearly and holistic tool designed to address all the conditions of humanity, but do not use it as a weapon. You are the clay In the Potter’s Hands.
